Analyzing An Article
Please find an article online that relates to one of the five core concepts of the chapter. Write a short analysis (no more than one page) that addresses the following standards:
Clarity: What is the purpose of this article? What key question is it trying to answer?
Accuracy: What specific information is offered in this article? (facts, experiences, data, etc.)
Relevance: How is this article related to one of the five core concepts from the chapter? Can you explain how the information in the article reinforces our science lessons?
Breadth: Do we need to consider another point of view? Is there another way to look at this question? Did the author demonstrate a limited perspective based on a specific bias?
Depth: Does the article address the complexities in the topic? What additional details would make the article more convincing or more interesting? Were there important topics/issues the author appeared to shy away from? The first three standards (Clarity, Accuracy, Relevance) form the necessary foundation for Good work (a 'B' grade). The last two standards offer ways to demonstrate Excellence in your analysis.
